The Short Film SING A RAINBOW by Luzius Wespe and Lukas Gut is selected for the Seoul International Youth Film Festival. The Festival takes place from the 29th of october till the 2nd of november in Seoul
Fell In Love With A Girl premiers at the Zurich Film Festival
Unfathomable are the ways of love: At times, they may even take us across oceans and present us with a completely uncertain future. Voltafilm member Simon Weber was supporting the director Kaleo La Belle as a cameraman on this project. Skilfully interspersed with music, the filmmaker tells his personal story of love, separation and new beginnings, a story that every viewer can identify with on some level. The Film screens in the section Focus Competition.
Shanghai Film Lab opens in Zurich on September 28th
The metropolis of Shanghai is changing rapidly, making it an inspiring place for creative people. How do young urban Chinese people experience life, and where do they find their place in society? The portrayed protagonist of these short documentaries are struggling in their own way with tradition and modern life, looking for self-determination and love. The films of the Voltafilm directors Luzius Wespe (Sing a Rainbow) and Simon Weber (Between Classes There Are Dreams) will open in Zurich cinemas on Septemeber 28th.
Nicole Wanderon starts as an intern with Voltafilm
Nicole Wanderon has been with us since mid-September as an intern - focusing on editing. She just earned a Bachelor Degree at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences in 2017 and will support us during the next six months.
VISIONS DU RÉEL 2017
The Voltafilm directors Luzius Wespe and Simon Weber present their latest documentary films at the VISIONS DU RÉEL 2017 - Festival International de Cinéma in Nyon. The films BETWEEN CLASSES THERE ARE DREAMS by Simon Weber and SING A RAINBOW by Luzius Wespe and Lukas Gut will be celebrating world premiere at the Colombière Grande Salle, Nyon on April 25th, 2017 at 7pm. Further screenings in Lucerne on May 1st, 2017 at 6pm and on May 7th, 2017 at 1:30pm at the STATTKINO. On May 8th, 2017 at 8.30pm at the cinema REX in Bern and on May 9th, 2017 at 7.30pm at the University of Basel.
200 short films produced at schools
For seven years now, we have been successfully running film workshops at schools:

Script Funding for THE GOAT
Together with screenwriter Manuela Steiner, Voltafilm has received script funding for the shortfilm screenplay THE GOAT from the film commissions of Lucerne and Aargau. A film about senselessness, excessive demands and a goat, embedded in an urgent and current story. We are looking forward to develop this film project further.
ALPTRAUM playing in theaters now

Manuel Lobmaiers ludicrous Mountain-Essay about a failed alpine summer, broken male bonding and a cute sheperdess is literally left in the rain. As deeply disturbing as hilarious. ALPTRAUM screening at Filmfestival Solothurn 2017
ALPTRAUM – THE FINAL ADVENTURE (Edited by Stephan Heiniger) will be screened at the Filmfestival Solothurn 2017 in the section PanoDoc. Manuel Lobmaiers dark-funny mountain essay about the end of a friendship between two men, a cute shepardess and the merciless world of the Alps will be at theaters in march 2017. Further films in Solothurn with Voltafilm's participation are VOM FLÖSSEN AM ÄGERISEE from Thomas Horat (Camera: Luzius Wespe) and MISS ATTINGHAUSEN from our intern Vasco Estermann (director mentorship: Simon Weber).

Voltafilm premiers with two Docs in Shanghai
Voltafilm shot two Documentary Films in Shanghai.
“Between Class there are Dreams" by Simon Weber is a short film about life and love at the famous Jiao Tong University campus in Shanghai with 20,000 students.
"Rainbow in Autumn" by Luzius Wespe and Lukas Gut. A portrait of two members of an up-and-coming choir seeking their way of life in the 24 million metropolis of Shanghai.
The films were produced in collaboration with Outreach GmbH and the Shanghai Theater Academy.

Silver in Deauville
The film THE ENERGY TURNAROUND IN BUILDING ENGINEERING wins the silver trophy in the category Communicatin Energy Transition at the Deauville Green Award 2015. We're celebrating with our client from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Art.
Documentary shoot in China
Luzius Wespe, Lukas Gut and Simon Weber participated in the 2016 Shanghai Documentary Workshop. We realized short film trailers in collaboration with Outreach and the Documentary Studio of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The two short films "A dream taking off" and "The Taoist Priest" will be shot in China in October planned to be released end of the year - stay tuned!
Nomination for Green Award
The film THE ENERGY TURNAROUND IN BUILDING ENGINEERING has been nominated for the Deauville Green Award. Toghether with our client from the LUCERNE UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES AND ARTS we're looking forward to a couple of nice days in northern France. And who knows? Maybe we'll bring home a trophy.
Production in Egypt completed
We completed the filming in Egypt for the documentary about the radiology and bloodbank projects for SECO. The crazy and intriguing week in El Mansoura, El Sinblaween and Cairo was drawn to a close successfully! Many thanks to the amazing egyptian and swiss team!
THE MEADOW starts brilliantly in 2016
After being selectet one of the Top 5 European Shorts by Sven Schwarz (Director Shortfilmfestival Hamburg) for Cineuropa THE MEADOW by Jela Hasler (edited by Stephan Heiniger) continues its journey on several festivals in the new year: Sofia Menar Film Festival in Bulgaria, Punto de Vista Documentaryfilmfestival in Spain and at the Solothurner Filmtage. Let's hope that Svens wish will become true: «This beautiful unagitated documentary gives the audience a glimpse into a world where something feels strange. Even though this film is very calm and almost static it got really stuck in my head and is one of the gems I am hoping to see at a lot of festivals in 2016.»

SOUNDS OF NATURE Best Short in Seattle
Simon Weber's short fiction film SOUNDS OF NATURE wins the Audience Award and the 2015 Chilren's Film Festival in Seattle (USA). The Voltafilm produced fantasy film was the public favorite at the largest and most prestigious film festival on the west coast of the USA for children's and family films.
Albert Koechlin Foundation supports Doc Film MORBUS HELVETICUS
The next central Switzerland cultural project for the Albert Koechlin Foundation will take place April 18th - May 29th 2016 under the title "longing". For the second time Voltafilm is part of this cultural project for AKF, this time with the film MORUBUS HELVETICUS.
Documentary on science communications funded
The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) has funded the new documentary on equality of KMUs by Romana Lanfranconi. The project "Agora" supports researchers who seek dialogue with the public. Together with social researcher Dr. Lucia M. Lanfranconi, Voltafilm will produce a documentary that will be shown within the framework of the 20th anniversary of the Equality Act in Spring 2016.

The experimental short documentary film by Jela Hasler, edited by Stephan Heiniger, will be finished in May 2015. We are excited for the release of this not your everyday production!
Film Premier: 600 Years Hospital Biel
On Thursday, January 29th 2015, the short film 600 YEARS HOSPITAL BIEL will premier at the New Museum Biel as part of the special exhibition "Sick Biel, A Doctor's visit in 1850". The regional network TeleBielingue will screen this short film on Sunday the 1st and 8th of February 2015, at 19:20 and 19:50 respectively (and then hourly thereafter).
Doc Film ROSARY on DVD
This 27 minute documentary, ROSARY - an entire faith in one hand, is available on DVD. The filmmaker Simon Weber not only depicts the artisanal process around the manufacturing and repair of rosaries, but also sets them in the context of the present. The film follows eight people from the canton of Schwyz who are connected with the rosary.
